The Accounting Specialist will be responsible for overseeing the accuracy and integrity of our Singapore’s accounting and financial reporting in accordance with Singapore Financial Reporting Standards (SFRS) and regulatory requirements under the Payment Services Act (PS Act).
This role will not perform bookkeeping directly but will coordinate with our external accounting firm, ensuring that all accounting entries, reconciliations, and financial statements are prepared correctly and on time. The specialist will review accounting deliverables, provide necessary documentation and clarifications, and ensure that financial reporting aligns with MAS (Monetary Authority of Singapore) and ACRA (Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority) requirements.
The role will also support the annual statutory audit and provide all required information to external auditors and internal finance stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
1. Accounting Oversight
- Act as the main point of contact between our Singapore and the external accounting service provider.
Ensure all financial documents (invoices, contracts, bank statements, payroll data, etc.) are properly organized and shared with the accounting firm within agreed timelines.
- Review monthly and quarterly financial reports prepared by the accounting firm for accuracy, completeness, and consistency with SFRS.
- Validate key accounting entries, reconciliations, and adjustments before submission to management or auditors.
- Maintain oversight of the company’s financial position and ensure that accounting practices comply with both internal policies and local standards.
2. Financial Reporting & Governance
- Review monthly trial balances and financial statements provided by the accounting firm, ensuring accuracy and alignment with group reporting requirements.
- Prepare management reporting packs and summaries to support internal and group-level financial reviews.
- Monitor deadlines for MAS and ACRA reporting, ensuring that all financial data and documents are submitted on time through the appropriate channels.
- Support safeguarding-related reconciliations and provide visibility on balances required for MAS regulatory oversight (under the Payment Services Act).
3. Audit Support
- Coordinate and support the annual statutory audit, acting as liaison between auditors, the accounting firm, and our internal teams.
- Prepare and review audit schedules, financial documentation, and explanations requested by auditors.
- Ensure all audit queries are addressed promptly, maintaining a complete and transparent audit trail.
- Track and resolve any findings or post-audit recommendations related to financial reporting.
4. Support to Tax and Compliance Functions
- Provide the accounting firm with supporting documentation required for tax filings and other statutory submissions (e.g., invoices, contracts, trial balances).
- Review and validate financial data provided for IRAS (Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore) submissions, ensuring consistency with accounting records.
- Collaborate with Compliance and Finance when requested to provide financial data or support for regulatory reporting to MAS.
- Maintain proper documentation and record retention for all financial reports, ensuring readiness for inspections or internal reviews.
5. Coordination with Global Finance
- Work closely with global accounting, treasury, and FP&A teams to ensure consistency between local and group-level reporting.
- Support intercompany reconciliations and alignment of financial reporting timelines.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing accuracy and efficiency of accounting workflows.
Key Deliverables

- Review notes and validations of accounting firm outputs (journals, reconciliations, statements).
- Monthly and quarterly reporting packs to Group Finance.
- Complete audit documentation and responses to auditor queries.
- Timely submission of financial data required for ACRA filings and MAS regulatory reporting (via Finance).
- Proper documentation trail of all accounting records, invoices, and reconciliations.
Qualifications and Experience
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Professional qualification (ACCA, CA, CPA, or equivalent) preferred.
- 4–6 years of relevant experience in accounting, financial control, or audit.
- Strong understanding of Singapore accounting standards (SFRS) and statutory reporting requirements.
- Experience in coordinating with external accounting or audit firms.
- Background in fintech, payments, or regulated financial institutions.
- Familiarity with MAS requirements for Major Payment Institutions under the Payment Services Act.
